AWC Post-Bushfire Biodiversity Survey Report 2021

Following the Black Summer bushfires in 2019/20, AWC collaborated with Wollombi Landcare Group to undertake post-fire fauna surveys across 16 private properties located in the Upper Yango Creek valley (hereafter referred to as the ‘Upper Yango Project Area’). This work was conducted as part of a national bushfire response program.

As part of an ongoing effort to monitor avian populations and ecosystem recovery, ecologist Mareshell Wauchope conducted a follow-up bird survey in October 2024. This survey revisited the same sites and applied the same methodology as the initial study carried out by the Australian Wildlife Conservancy (AWC) in 2020.

Upper Yango Koala Survey 2022

ULYA commissioned a koala survey in June 2022 in the Upper Yango Valley. The goal of the survey was to collect accurate data on the presence or absence of koalas in the area, approximate numbers, general health, and habitat.
