Fire Initiatives

Fire Crew

Following the Black Summer fires the community agreed a  well resourced community fire crew was potentially the most valuable asset in a bushfire emergency.

Equipment

Having the right equipment to tackle a fire, build containment lines and manage a burn, is half the job.

Threat Assessment

Understanding where your fire threat will most likely come from, gives you a massive advantage, allowing you to formulate a defence strategy and prepare the ground to tackle an incoming threat on your terms.

Cool Burning

Cool Burning, a key component of our bushfire mitigation strategy, distinguishes itself from the more destructive Prescribed Hazard Reduction Burns commonly used by government agencies.

Containment Lines

Fire will most commonly dictate the action of firefighters. However, a comprehensive defence plan helps a crew to attack the fire front, on their terms.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Fighting a fire or managing a burn, being safe and sensible is the first priority. All our crew members have personal protective clothing and equipment.

Bushfire Training

Having the opportunity to undertake training is important. It doesn’t need to be overwhelming. There are just a few basics to understand.
